Department of Ophthalmology
The eyes are very sophisticated optical organs that function like a camera. Light rays enter the eye through the cornea (the clear front window), pass through the pupil (the hole in the centre of the iris), and then through the lens, finally reaching the retina (the retina at the back of the eye. The retina converts the image into impulses that travel through the optic nerve to the brain, which converts them into visual images. Infrastructure The department has a spacious outdoor with a latest modular operation theater, the first of its kind in the region. The department is equipped with state of the art instruments and machines. It boasts of a reputed teaching faculty and excellent surgeons.
There are five separate examination rooms, Major and Minor OT and a Special Investigation Room. Eye ward with 16 Indoor/ Teaching beds. Demo rooms in both OPD & ward with a well equipped Departmental Library. Operation Theatre Equipped with Three Carl Zeiss (Germany) Operating microscopes. Provision to project live Surgery for teaching purposes.
